If it takes a village to raise a child, what will it take to raise a child who has suffered under severe hardship/trauma?

Let’s just assume (for the sake of argument) that this ancient saying is referring to a “regular/normal” child, if there were such a thing as a “regular/normal” child.  In this case, one can only assume that it would take more than a village and/or specific / advanced individuals within that village (and other villages) to meet the needs of the child who has suffered under severe hardship/trauma.

In Nickolas DeJarnette’s book, The Absolute Severity of Environment, he would refer to the (regular/normal) child’s “village” as the child’s “environment.”

In regard to the child who has suffered under severe hardship/trauma, Mr. DeJarnette would argue that such a child would need a “custom-made environment” (made up of sub-environments) created specific to the child’s NEEDS & DREAMS.

Because no human being is defined by the hardship/trauma that they have experienced, addressing the hardship / trauma is only half of the battle.  Mr. DeJarnette argues that addressing one’s DREAMS (desires, strengths, talents, passions, and purpose) is as vitally important to the healing, growth, and development process as is addressing one’s NEEDS.

As a result, Mr. DeJarnette created a program called “Cultivating Environments With Purpose”  that focuses on creating custom-made environments (made up of sub-environments) that address the specific NEEDS & DREAMS of an individual.  More specifically, the program places an emphasis on personal and professional development, with a hyperfocus on mental & emotional healing while simultaneously teaching financial literacy— teaching an individual how to fund his or her DREAMS, so that their DREAMS can FUND them and future generations (Generational Wealth).

Cultivating Environments With Purpose is for youth and adults alike.

In "The Absolute Severity of Environment," Mr. DeJarnette shares how his personal journey consisted of negative environments that led to negative results.  As he dissects the environments into two major categories, internal environments and external environments, he takes the reader on a journey that leads to him

creating his own custom-made environment (made up of sub environments) for healing, growth, and development.

With grandparents who were gangsters, with parents who were career criminals, and with murderers in his immediate family/household, Nick’s life of crime led him to a 15 to 17 year prison sentence by the time he was 22 years of age.

Having a mother who was a prostitute and a father who was a pimp—both parents being alcoholics and drug addicted— Nick’s childhood was filled with nightmares, abuse, and neglect to say the least.

Nick’s first crime was in 1988, when he was eight years old.  Nick spent his entire childhood and young adult life homeless, in foster care, in juvenile detention facilities, jail, and prison.

Today, as a Boston University graduate, owner of multiple businesses, speaker, author, coach, mentor, husband, and father, Mr. DeJarnette’s passion to help others cultivate custom-made environments that will help them heal, grow, and develop—both personally and professionally— is rooted in his experiences and successes.

Today, Nick's custom-made environment helps keep him focused and grounded and is made up of a retired Probate Court Judge (who served as a judge for 23 years), a therapist, the number one motivational speaker in the world, Eric Thomas (who also wrote the foreword to Nickolas' first book), Alex Green (who played for the NFL's Green Bay Packers & New York Jets), Jemal King ("The 9 to 5 Millionaire" and Former Police Officer), a US Congress Candidate, and other positives figures like Pastors, Professors, and Celebrities.

Nick refers to himself as a Master Farmer/Gardener regarding the cultivating of custom-made environments that help people maximize optimal growth.  With 20+ years of experience and countless success stories, Nick decided to turn his passion into a business for the purpose of making a larger impact on the world— “and to finally get paid for something I love to do” (Nick’s words).

Nick's book and program teaches how everyday people can make elite individuals (like teachers, coaches, therapists, professors, professionals, pastors, and even celebrities) a part of their environment for healing, growth, and development (FOR FREE).  "Environment is crucial," says Nick, "so if it takes a village to raise a child, some of us might need a 'SUPER VILLAGE.'"
